Everton vs West Brom Highlights Video

Everton 2 - 0 West Brom
With defender Joleon Lescott left on the bench due to him being only a single caution away from missing the FA Cup quarter final against Middlesbrough, it was a patched up Toffees side that entertained bottom-placed West Bromwich Albion at Goodison Park.

The home team started much the better and although the Baggies threatened on occasions, it seemed only a matter of time before Everton struck. Tim Cahill did have the ball in the net but it was disallowed for a push but it wasn’t long before he made amends. A free kick from the Everton left saw the West Brom defence in disarray and with Scott Carson flailing in thin air, Cahill met the ball first to head into an empty net.

Tony Mowbray’s side offered a lot more after half time and only a miraculous goal line clearance from Phil Jagielka denied Luke Moore an equaliser. Louis Saha was introduced and took less than ten minutes to double Everton’s lead, turning smartly before smashing a left foot shot past Carson. West Brom had several opportunities in the closing minutes but always found the wrong side of the post. They remain rooted to the bottom whilst Everton consolidate sixth.
