Hull vs Tottenham Highlights Video

Hull 1 - 2 Tottenham

With both teams still too close for comfort to the relegation zone, Hull and Spurs met at the KC Stadium desperate for three priceless points. Harry Redknapp handed the captaincy to Robbie Keane but Aaron Lennon made the early running, causing Andy Dawson to twice foul him and earn himself a booking in the first ten minutes. Dawson should have been as close to Lennon shortly after as Keane combined with Luca Modric to set up the former Leeds player for the opener.

Hull’s recent form didn’t indicate a swift response but a 28th minute corner was not dealt with by Carlo Cudicini and Michael Turner eventually prodded home. The rest of the first half saw chances traded but no further scoring.

The second half did produce more action and whilst Spurs fans were chastened by those created, particularly for Darren Bent who should have done better, the Gomez-like form of Cudicini was worrying. Vedran Corluka hit the bar for
Spurs with a header but the game looked like petering out with both teams apparently more keen not to lose than to actually win. However, Hull didn’t reckon with Jonathan Woodgate who rose to head home from a Benoit Assou-Ekotto cross with less than five minutes to go. A very late penalty shout from Geovanni was rightly turned down and Spurs held on for a vital win.
