The Gunners beat local rivals Fulham 1-0 on Saturday evening. Dutch striker Robin Van Persie scored the winner for Arsene Wenger's side on 52 minutes. Fulham defender Paul Konchesky's pass was intercepted by Arsenal in midfield, and Cesc Fabregas lofted the ball into the path of Van Persie, who kept his cool and finished well. Olympiakos made a winning start to their Champions League group campaign as they beat Dutch champions AZ 1-0 at home. Vasilis Torosidis scored the winner for Olympiakos. The Greek side have a fair number of players with European pedigree in their ranks- Cristian Ledesma, Olof Mellberg, Enzo Maresca and Raul Bravo to name a few.
