Last season's Champions League semifinalists Chelsea welcome FC Porto to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday evening ( September 15) in their Group D opener. The Champions League is the only major piece of silverware missing from the trophy cabinet at the Bridge, and fans of the Blues will be hoping that Carlo Ancelotti can achieve what Jose Mourinho, Avram Grant and Guus Hiddink could not.
The Blues currently lead the English Premier League with 15 points from five games. Their last game was a tough one against Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium, but winger Florent Malouda's late late strike gave them all three points against Tony Pulis' resilient outfit.
Porto reached the quarterfinals of the Champions League last season, and even gave Manchester United a bit of a scare in the last eight. The Portuguese giants are however in rebuilding mode as three of their best players- Lucho Gonzalez, Lisandro Lopez and Aly Cissokho have left the Estadio do Dragao in the summer.
